In April 1953 the first Aston Martin DB2/4 MK1 cars left the factory. The construction of the new model had its derivation from its predecessor, the DB2, which it was replacing. However, the new car was built as a 2+2 with two seats in the rear. The „First Hatchback the world had ever seen“, incorporating a new type of liftback, giving easy access to the rear and increased luggage space. Further improvements and changes included a „one-piece“ windscreen and a new headlight layout.

The 2580 cc twin- overhead camshaft 6 cylinder engine produced 106 PS at 5000 rpm, as in the DB2 (W.O. Bentley´s Lagonda engine). In 1955 three Works cars did win a Team Prize in the Mille Miglia and Monte Carlo Rally

This car with chassis number “LML 604” dates from 1954 and comes with the original Buildsheet & Factory Guarantee Work brief. The body colour is named Imperial Crimson Red and the the interior has beige leather seats, beige carpets and a beige roof lining. Exact the same colour combination now as it was when first delivered in 1954. The car received a total Body-off restoration in England which took several years, being completed in 2000, including the original engine, the original gearbox (gearbox number checked with remote camera in 2017) and the suspension. Since then carefully driven and preserved. The car comes with three large files with photographs, bills and documents record the restoration and history of the car.

A very detailed and careful restoration was carried out which is reflected in the state of the car today of the paint, shut-lines, chrome, glass, period leather and carpets, likewise the restored newly varnished wooden dashboard with its original overhauled instruments.

Four owners are recorded from new, the first three from County Devon in England, and the last ownership over 50 years in the north of England.

The Aston is a pleasure to drive in all respects. A perfect example of  motoring history, and indeed a good investment. The DB2/4 is Mille Miglia eligible. The car is registered in England with the original Registration number.
