Jaguar XK 120 Alloy MILLE MIGLIA Roadster, year 1949. Chassis number 670062, engine number W1161-7, gearbox number JH1350. A Heritage Certificate is available confirming that the chassis and engine are factory original ('matching numbers'). The cylinder head has been replaced in the past. The cream-colored exterior and dark beige leather interior are almost identical to the color scheme in which the car left the factory in 1949. The Jaguar XK 120 Alloy is a historically significant collector's car that marks the introduction of the legendary Jaguar XK six-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts. The Jaguar XK 120 was designed as a 'test bed' for the new XK engine. Presented at the 1948 London Motor Show, the car's performance figures (120 mph guaranteed top speed) and stunning open two-seater (OTS) design caused a sensation, leading Jaguar founder and chairman William Lyons to put the car into production. The first 242 cars were fitted with hand-made aluminium (alloy) bodies before production of cars with pressed steel bodies began in 1950. On 30 May 1949, the Jaguar XK 120 became the fastest production car in the world with a speed record of 132,6 mph on the motorway at Jabbeke in Belgium. This rare Jaguar XK 120 Alloy with chassis number 670062 is car number 62 of the 242 'alloy' cars built. This XK 120 Alloy is one of 184 built with left-hand drive. The car was sold new in Cairo, Egypt in December 1949. In 1996 the car was extensively restored, invoices that provide a good insight into the work carried out are available. In the late 1990s the car was owned by Mr. GR Lang, founder of Chronoswiss, the renowned watch manufacturer. During this period, the XK 120 Alloy played a major role in the company's promotional material. In 1999, the XK 120 took part in the Silvretta Classic Rallye Montafon in Austria, where it won first prize. The car subsequently won another prize at the German Bensberg Classic. In 2003, the Jaguar XK 120 took part in the prestigious Mille Miglia Storica. The full history of the XK 120 is known and contained in two large binders. This rare and highly sought after Jaguar XK 120 Alloy is in good condition with a beautiful patina. The six-cylinder XK engine runs strongly and the Moss four-speed gearbox shifts as it should. The driving experience and all the senses of speed and sound are magnificent; this XK 120 Alloy is a wonderful time capsule. The car shows all the original details and is equipped with a pair of large Lucas SLR700 spotlights at the front, a leather belt over the hood and insert side windows with beige frames. The car comes with an FIA Historic Vehicle Identity Form and can be entered for any historic event in the world, including the legendary Mille Miglia. The XK 120 is not a very suitable car for very tall drivers. For them we have the option to install special bucket seats that create more legroom. The Jaguar XK 120 Alloy MILLE MIGLIA is the 'holy grail' of the world of Jaguar. This is a great opportunity to get your ticket to the crème de la crème of historic car events.
